The central aims of the club are to encourage recreational and utilitarian cycling, to provide opportunities to participate in a wide spectrum of social and outdoor activities, and to promote respect for our natural environment, with a strong emphasis on practical rather than political matters. Rides are organised by members each weekend, usually starting and finishing within 100 km of Melbourne. As far as practical, we endeavour to make use of train services to journey to and from start and finish points.
Many of our members find the club a natural extension of their own day to day bicycle usage. Bicycle commuting and touring have much in common: practicality, efficiency, independence, variety, economy and the potential for conversation with other riders. In addition, the clubs activities are sufficiently varied to appeal to people of widely varying backgrounds.
