    Event Host- Vera

Catch 0816 Ararat train at Southern Cross arriving at Beaufort 1010.

(Early birds could catch the 0716 Ex Southern Cross and enjoy a relaxing hour over coffee in Ballarat and board the train at 0940)

Riding will start from Beaufort and proceed on quiet mostly sealed roads to morning tea at Brewster. (3.4km gravel road). After morning tea we will head north across the freeway and rail line towards Mt Misery - which we'll go round rather than over. Heading generally westwards (tailwind?) we will ride to Creswick for lunch at Le Peche Gourmand. The day is forecast to be warm around 30°. After lunch we will head to St George's Lake for a refreshing swim. Those not wishing to swim could walk the lake circuit trail or read a book under a tree. After our swim we head towards Ballarat Station from where trains depart at 1813, 1913 and 2115. Allowing people to spend some time in Ballarat before returning to Melbourne.

We will head south, climbing to the little-used western end of the Grand Ridge Rd and climbing to Seaview to visit the hall, probably for lunch (need to carry this from Warragul). We will then ride on climbing through deep forests to the high point at Mt Worth with its very spectacular view. We follow the ridge-line road to Allambee from where there is a great descent into Yarragon for our afternoon tea stop. The last 25 kms are flat riding in the valley on quieter sealed backroads to return to Warragul.
