  • Inner North Eastern Parks Loop (19-24kms)

    June 27, 2018  2:00 pm - 4:30 pm

    RSVP through Meetup at

This is an afternoon loop through the inner north eastern parklands of Melbourne to freshen limbs and reinvigorate the mind.

We’ll be starting and finishing outside the Park St Café on the Capital City Trail

From here we head easterly along the CCT towards the Yarra river. After Heidelberg Rd we leave the CCT and hit the Yarra Trail. We follow this trail tuning off at Darebin Creek Trail (7.3 km) .

We do a clockwise loop around the golf clubs, three of them and along the edge of a fourth! After the this loop (15 km), we continue north along the Darebin Creek Trail again. We travel through Sparkes Reserve under the old bridge and onwards until we get to the Darebin Parklands (17.6 km). We’ll stop here to use the facilities and nibble on any trail tucker bought from home and reflect on the beauty of our surrounds.

Now comes a bit of street grind. Starting along Separation St we zig zag until we reach the Merri Creek Trail (22.1 km). We pass a few train stations for those that want an earlier train home.

Now cross back to the CCT and go east back to the Park St Café (23.7 km) where we end our ride.

We will maintain a reasonable pace of approx. 15 – 20 kph but you won’t need to don your lycras to keep up.

I will be driving to Gympie or Murwillumbah with two others, anyone else that wants to drive up is welcome to get a group together and drive up with us. We will most likely leave early on Sat 30/06 and arrive in the evening on Sun 01/07.

I have a friend near Murwillumbah, cars can be parked off road at his place if we want to get the train to Gympie. I also have friends in Gympie and if we decide to drive all the way we can park our cars off road at their place.

Bikes to be in good condition, suitable for unsealed paths, rough section of bush tracks, and preferably be fitted with 35mm+ tyres.

You must carry all tools, spares, first aid kit, and any other equipment required for you or your group to be fully self sufficient.

I will not be taking any responsibility for anyone that arrives ill prepared, although we will always do our best to support each other.

Please make sure that your ambulance subscription is paid up as a ride to hospital can be quite a wallet draining experience.
